21 year old striker Taiwo Atieno has signed a 1.5 year deal with USL 1st Division team Puerto Rico Islanders.

Atieno turned down a number of offers from the UK after leaving Tamworth in order to seek a new challange playing in the USA.

Atieno's agent Mark Taylor said, "I'm sure Tai will do excellently for Puerto Rico. He could have easily stayed in England and played in League 1 or League 2 but it's an ambition of Tai's to play in the MLS and I'm sure he will achieve this within the next year or two."

* Since signing for Puerto Rico, Atieno has scored 5 goals in 8 starts and has helped the team qualify for the end of season play-offs.
