Walsall have announced that promising 19 year old defender Julian Bennett has signed a one-year contract extension to his current deal, committing himself to the club until June 2006.
Bennett, who has also filled in at left back this season, has been a regular in Paul Merson's team and has played every minute of every league game so far this season.
Walsall's first-team coach Iffy Onuora believes the Nottingham-born youngster has the potential for a big future.
"Julian is a young lad who is still learning the game, but he has a lot of potential," said Onoura.
"He is powerful and quick and there is something of a future leader about him."
The player's agent, Mark Taylor of PSC added
"Julian has worked hard both during pre-season and the start of the current campaign to establish himself in Walsall's first team.
Now he has achieved his aim of getting there, he has made a very impressive start to the season and this has been rightly recognised by Walsall by them offering him an improved deal.
Jules has the potential to go a long way in the game"
